Research Description
Our intracellular bioengineering approach has resulted in novel experimental and mathematical methods quantifying physiological function at the cellular level and new technologies focused on modifying cell function. We have a primary interest in the role of the endothelial cell and its contributions to both normal maintenance and abnormal dysfunction of vascular physiology.

Current Projects Include:

1. What is the role of the junction proteins in the dynamic regulation of the exchange of proteins and water between the blood and tissues? 2. How can genetic material be most effectively delivered across the cell membrane and to the nucleus? 3. How can the information obtained from microarray hybridization experiments be maximized? 4. Can caging compounds and light be used to locally control the expression of exogenous genetic materials?
