Available Postdoctoral Position Details
Posted: 10/28/2021

The Center for Asthma Research (CAR) seeks applications for a postdoctoral position at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine for a post-doctoral fellow with a focused interest in clinical epidemiology, translational science or systems biology with a relevant degree and experience to work in the area of developmental origins of childhood asthma and allergic diseases.

The post-doctoral fellow will join a highly multidisciplinary research team led by Tina Hartert, M.D., M.P.H.. Dr. Hartert is Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics, the Director of the CAR, and serves as the Assistant Vice President for Translational Science at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. CAR consists of nearly 40 members across a wide range of disciplines and has established collaborations with investigative teams throughout the United States and worldwide. Dr. Hartert is the principal investigator of one of the largest number of cohorts assembled to study asthma and allergic disease development, the resources of which are available for post-doctoral fellow research projects. Post-doctoral fellowships are for three years, and most post-doctoral fellows are supported by our NIH T32. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent) in a relevant area (epidemiology, quantitative or systems biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, health services research, pediatrics, etc.). Strong communication, analytical skills and experience manipulating and analyzing large complex databases is desired, and experience with high-dimensional data (genetic, metabolomics, microbiome, or other ‘omics’) would be an asset. Having a proactive and flexible demeanor with an ability to effectively work in a team environment is important.

Interested applicants should submit their CV and a brief statement of research interests and accomplishments by email to:  Tina Hartert, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics, tina.hartert@vumc.org.

Vanderbilt University is one of America’s premier private universities and ranked Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For," and Nashville, Tennessee is among Business Week’s top 15 “America’s Best Cities”. Vanderbilt University support and infrastructure for post-doctoral fellows is unparalleled, and our post-doctoral fellows go on to have highly successful careers. Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt are recognized annually as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” compiled by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Hartert has a long history of successful mentoring and has received numerous awards for her mentoring of post-doctoral fellows.
