Available Postdoctoral Position Details
Posted: 1/6/2015
The Department of Anesthesiology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a post-doctoral position focused on pharmacogenomics/bioinformatics based personalized perioperative medicine research. The position is available immediately, will remain open until filled, and is funded for up to 3 years, with possible transition to a full time faculty position. Applicants will have knowledge and practical experience of clinical phenotype extraction from electronic health records using natural language processing, machine learning techniques and dimensionality reduction. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a program that will integrate these data with existing genotype and next generation sequence data, in order to facilitate discovery of novel genotype-phenotype associations and identification of pharmacogenetic signals. Knowledge of medical terminologies, ontology, and data mining techniques is required. Previous experience with pharmacogenomics datasets is highly desirable. Vanderbilt University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is a leader in biomedical informatics and personalized medicine. For more information, contact Dr. Andrew Shaw (andrew.shaw@vanderbilt.edu) or Dr. Stephen Bruehl (stephen.bruehl@vanderbilt.edu), Department of Anesthesiology, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
