Research Description
Dr. Luther's research focuses on the roler of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system on glucose regulation using human and animal models. We are using pharmacologic tools and genetic interruption to investigate the effects on insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity in vivo.
Clinical Description
Dr. Luther is director of the Vanderbilt AHA Comprehensive Hypertension Center, where he evaluates and treats resistant and secondary causes of hypertension such as primary aldosteronism and renovascular hypertension. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Nephrology. He also certified as a Hypertension Specialist.
Research Keywords
insulin resistance aldosterone insulin secretion metabolic syndrome
Clinical Research Keywords
