Research Description
Research on the clinical application of mind-body practices for health conditions. Mind-body practices consist of techniques that utilize physical, cognitive, and breathing techniques to achieve specific health or personal goals. Dr. Birdee examines the clinical effectiveness and mechanisms of mind-body practices including yoga, t'ai chi, and meditation. In particular, he focuses on the clinical application of mind-body practices for chronic cardiovascular and metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and congestive heart failure.
