Research Description
Dr. Pugh's research interest is in the area of pulmonary vascular disease and she has been involved in clinical research investigating the role of abnormal glucose metabolism and activity levels in pulmonary arterial hypertension. She continues to actively participate in early phase trials of novel therapeutic agents for pulmonary hypertension as well as ongoing studies of abnormal metabolism in PAH. Dr. Pugh also is interested in medical education and is presently studying novel strategies for teaching critical care ultrasound in the medical ICU.
Clinical Description
Dr. Pugh's clinical focus is in general pulmonary medicine and the management of pulmonary vascular disease including the evaluation and treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. She attends in the Medical Intensive Care unit and has specific interest in the use and application of critical care ultrasound in critically ill medical patients.
