Clinical Description
Dario J. Englot, M.D., Ph.D., received his masters and doctorate degrees in Neuroscience and his medical degree from Yale University. He completed a residency in Neurological Surgery at University of California and a fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery and Epilepsy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Englot joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2017 as Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery, Radiology and Radiological Sciences, and Biomedical Engineering and serves as Surgical Director of Epilepsy. His research centers on brain network analysis in neurological disorders using neuroimaging and electrophysiology, with a particular focus in epilepsy.

Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow in Human Neuroimaging and Electrophysiology

Institution: Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS), and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Departments of Neurological Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer and Electrical Engineering

Position Description: We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to join the Brain Imaging and Electrophysiology Network (BIEN) laboratory in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. The position would be available in 2023. Dario Englot, MD, PhD is a neurosurgeon and neuroscientist and the principal investigator of the BIEN lab. Our group uses functional and structural MRI techniques intracranial EEG to better understand brain network pathophysiology in epilepsy and other neurological disorders, as well as normal cognitive processes. Please see our lab website at www.englotlab.com. This post-doc position will focus on one of a few potential projects using advanced network analyses with functional MRI, structural MRI, or intracranial EEG data, or combining techniques for a multimodal approach. A major goal of the lab is to understand how seizures in epilepsy patients lead to dysfunction in brain networks related to cognition, behavior, and consciousness. We are also interested in how network analysis can improve clinical treatment, and how networks may change after surgical procedures.

Requirements: This position requires a Ph.D. in engineering, neuroscience, or a related field, with proficiency in MATLAB and/or computer programming. Prior experience in imaging or electrophysiology is preferred but not required. Both pending Ph.D. graduates and individuals who have completed previous post-doc training will be considered. An excellent academic record is critical, including a history of high-quality publications, presentations at national meetings, and experience in submitting grant applications. Applicants must be reliable, honest, hard-working, independent, and possess excellent communication skills. A minimum time commitment of 1-2 years is expected, with the potential opportunity for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with University guidelines, and benefits will be provided. Given funding considerations, the applicant should be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

How to Apply: Please email a CV, a brief statement of research interests and career goals, and the contact information for two to three references to Dr. Dario Englot at dario.englot@vanderbilt.edu.
