Research Description
Dr. Yu’s research program addresses the critical intersection of nutrition, gut microbiota, and epidemics of obesity and related chronic diseases, the most pressing public health crises in the US and worldwide. Her methodology is distinguished by its sophistication, leveraging large prospective cohorts of diverse populations, longitudinal electronic health records, and advanced multi-omics technologies, including metabolomics, metagenomics, proteomics, and genomics. Her work has advanced scientific understanding of lifestyle-disease associations and informed the development of novel biomarkers and predictive tools for precision medicine.

Research fellow—Molecular Epidemiology (focusing on metabolomics or gut microbiome)
We are seeking applications from strong candidates for a research fellow position in the Division of Epidemiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The successful applicant will work on NIH-funded projects that apply multi-omics approaches in epidemiologic studies, e.g., metabolomics and metagenomics, to examine the role of diet, lifestyles, gut microbiota, and microbiota-host interactions in metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will work with a multi-disciplinary research team to perform high-dimensional omics data analysis and statistical analysis, write manuscripts, and present research findings.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical, statistical programming, writing, and collaboration skills. Experience in metabolomic or metagenomic data analysis is desirable.
