Research Description
Dr. Scott Nelson, PharmD, MS is a pharmacist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After graduating from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy (PharmD), Dr. Nelson completed a two-year fellowship in Medical Informatics with the Department of Veterans Affairs and a Master’s of Science degree in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Nelson currently works in clinical decision support and knowledge management/engineering, as well as oversees the design and development of ambulatory CPOE, e-prescribing, and medication reconciliation tools at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Nelson’s practice and research interests include clinical decision support, knowledge management/engineering, standards and terminologies, information needs, drug-drug interactions, e-prescribing, medication reconciliation, and cost-effectiveness/economic modeling.
