Clinical Description
David Marcovitz, MD, is the current medical director of the Vanderbilt University Hospital Addiction Consult Service and Bridge Clinic. After graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, he completed general psychiatry residency at the MGH-McLean program at Harvard Medical School and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Partners Healthcare / Harvard Medical School in Boston. His primary clinical and research interests include providing high quality addiction care, developing innovative models of collaborative care with other medical specialties, and medical education. He has worked in both academic and private, as well as inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment facilities. He became waivered to prescribe buprenorphine in 2014 and became a certified course instructor in 2018. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry.
He is currently serving as the principal investigator for the Middle TN Opioid Addiction Treatment Hub at VUMC, a grant supported by the TN Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS).
