Research Description
Dr. Cahill’s research focuses on elucidating the innate immune mechanisms that drive the development of asthma in adulthood. She has a clinical and research interest in aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), the triad of asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, and respiratory reactions to inhibitors of cyclooxygenase-1 such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen. Through the study of a large cohort of patients with AERD and mechanistic clinical trials in adults with asthma, Dr. Cahill’s goal is to devise therapeutics that target the mechanisms driving disease for each individual adult with asthma.
Clinical Research Keywords
Aspirin-exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD), Adult-onset Asthma, NSAID drug allergy, Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps, Clinical Trials, Eicosanoid Biology, Cells and Mediators of Allergic Inflammation
